When the Peugeot 5008 was first introduced to the market in 2009 it was classed as a compact SUV, though it looked like a minivan crossed with an SUV.
In 2017 the model was relaunched as a compact crossover SUV (like the Nissan Qashqai) with the biggest change being the loss of the off-road equipment.
The French manufacturer found many of their customers would not take the car off-road anyway, so the heavy equipment was a waste of additional weight.
This led to the Peugeot 5008 being much lighter and easier to drive - sales more than doubled instantly for the line.
2019 models of the car are available with a 1.2-liter or 1.6-liter gasoline engine or a 1.5-liter or 2-liter turbodiesel engine - mated to either a manual or automatic transmission.
Inside the car is a whole range of modern technology including several touchscreens on the dashboard with features that can only be appreciated by reading through the official manual.
