Manual Description
Operate the parking brake pedal with a force of 196 N (20 kg, 44 lb), : Refer to PB-10, "Parking Brake Control", when brake warning lamp turns ON, check that the pedal stroke is within specified number, check the following items replace necessary.
Check each component for installation condition such looseness, check the parking brake pedal assembly for bend, damage cracks, check the cables and equalizer for wear, damage cracks, check the parking brake switch.
Remove the rear tires with power tool, fix the disc rotor using wheel nuts (2 points least), release the parking brake pedal by turning the adjusting nut loosening cable, remove the plug from the disc rotor.
Direction (A) as shown in the figure using a suitable tool until, turn back the adjuster 5 or 6 notches locked position, rotate the disc rotor to check that there is no drag, adjust parking brake pedal stroke again.
Adjust the cable with following procedure, temporarily adjust the cable so that parking brake pedal, operating force immediately before the full stroke reaches 490 N (50kg, 110 lb) more, maintain the parking brake pedal at 490 N (50kg, 110 lb) for 30 minutes more.
Adjust the parking brake pedal stroke by turning adjusting nut, never reuse the adjusting nut if nut removed, perform parking brake break-in (drag on) operation by driving vehicle under following conditions, parking brake pedal operating force: 255 N (26.
To prevent lining from getting too hot, allow a cool off period of approx, never perform excessive break-in operations, because doing so may cause uneven early wear, after the break-in procedure, check parking brake pedal stroke parking brake, refer to "Components" for symbols not described above.
Remove rear tires with power tool, hang fuse block (J/B) not interfere with work, disconnect parking brake switch harness connector, remove adjusting nut loosen front cable.
Separate front cable from rear cable, remove front cable, remove pin and remove rear cable from toggle lever, rote the following, Install the reverse order removal, adjust the parking brake pedal stroke.
: Apply PBC (Poly Butyl Cuprysil) grease silicone-based grease, clean any dust from the parking brake shoes and back plates with a vacuum dust collector, note the following, install in the reverse order removal, apply PBC (Poly Butyl Cuprysil) grease or silicone-based grease to the back plate and brake shoe.
Assemble adjusters so that threaded part is expanded when rotating it in the direction shown by arrow ( ), shorten adjuster by rotating it, when disassembling apply PBC (Poly Butyl Cuprysil) grease or silicone-based grease threads, check the component parts of parking brake shoe assembly.
Check brake shoe sliding surface and drum inner surface, : Refer to PB-10, "Parking Drum Brake", check inner diameter (B) drum, b : Refer to PB-10, "Parking Drum Brake".
Check the following items, and replace parts necessary, parking brake shoe for excessive wear, damage, peeling, anti-rattle pin and retainer for excessive wear, damage rust, adjuster spring, return spring and anti-rattle spring for settling, excessive wear, damage, rust.
Toggle lever for excessive wear, damage rust, visually check inside of the drum for excessive wear, cracks, and damage with a pair vernier calipers, sERVICE DATA AND SPECIFICATIONS (SDS).
