Manual Description(SRS) "AIR BAG" and "SEAT BELT PRE-TENSIONER" 2, precaution Necessary for Steering Wheel Rotation After Battery Disconnect 2, precaution for Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) "AIR BAG" "SEAT BELT, the Supplemental Restraint System such as AIR BAG” and SEAT BELT PRE-TENSIONER”, used along.
With a front seat belt, helps to reduce the risk or severity of injury to the driver and front passenger certain, system uses the seat belt switches to determine the front air bag deployment, and may only deploy one front, air bag, depending on the severity of a collision and whether the front occupants belted unbelted, information necessary to service the system safely is included in the SRS and SB section Service Manual.
To avoid rendering the SRS inoperative, which could increase the risk of personal injury death, the event of a collision which would result in air bag inflation, all maintenance must be performed by, improper maintenance, including incorrect removal and installation of the SRS can lead personal, injury caused by unintentional activation of the system.
PRECAUTIONS WHEN USING POWER TOOLS (AIR OR ELECTRIC) AND HAMMERS, when working near the Airbag Diagnosis Sensor Unit or other Airbag System sensors with the Ignition ON or engine running, DO NOT use air or electric power tools or strike near sensor(s) with, when using air or electric power tools or hammers, always switch the Ignition OFF, disconnect, battery, and wait at least 3 minutes before performing any service.
Precaution Necessary for Steering Wheel Rotation After Battery Disconnect, this Procedure is applied only to models with Intelligent Key system and NATS (NISSAN ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM), remove and install all control units after disconnecting both battery cables with the ignition knob, always use CONSULT-III to perform self-diagnosis as a part of each function inspection after finishing work.
If DTC is detected, perform trouble diagnosis according self-diagnostic results, for models equipped with the Intelligent Key system and NATS, an electrically controlled steering lock mechanism is adopted key cylinder, for this reason, if the battery is disconnected or if the battery is discharged, the steering wheel will lock, steering wheel rotation will become impossible.
If steering wheel rotation is required when battery power is interrupted, follow procedure below before, supply power using jumper cables battery discharged, when parking brake lever is operated with a force of 196 N (20 kg-f, lb-f), make sure parking brake lever stroke within specified.
Make sure that the mounting conditions (looseness, backlash, etc, device assembly for bends, damage and cracks, cables and equalizer for wear and damage, engage parking brake lever, then lift up the end trim.
The lever to access adjusting nut, insert a deep socket wrench onto adjusting nut, nut to fully loosen cable, and then release parking brake lever, depress the foot brake about 10 times and adjust rear shoe clearance.
Be sure to securely depress foot brake, rotate brake drum to make sure that there no drag, adjust parking brake cable with following procedure, when replace parking brake cable, operate parking brake lever with a force of 490 N (50 kg-f, 110 lb-f).
Engage parking brake lever, then lift up the end of the trim on the lever to access adjusting nut, rotate adjusting nut to adjust parking brake lever stroke using deep socket wrench, operate parking brake lever with a force of 196 N (20 kg-f, 44 lb-f), make sure parking brake lever, stroke is within the specified number of notches.
: Refer to PB-8, "Parking Brake Control", make sure that there is no drag on rear brake with parking brake lever completely released, remove equalizer from rear cable terminal ends, take off rear cable clip, and unplug rear cable outward.
Close opening take off clip, remove device assembly nuts, remove device assembly, remove rear brake shoe and remove rear cable from the operating lever, remove the exhaust center tube and heat plate.
Remove rear cable bolt and nut, and then remove rear cable, discard the adjusting nut, do not reuse, installation is in the reverse order removal.
