The first name that comes to mind when a consumer thinks of buying a reliable and comfortable car is Toyota. No surprise then that Toyota, which became the world’s first automobile maker to put more than 10 million vehicles on road in a year in 2012, is the world’s biggest automaker.

Kiichiro Toyoda founded Toyota in 1937, a company headquartered in Toyota City, Japan. All its automobiles were made solely in Japan until the 80’s when Toyota began manufacture in US-based plants. The move resulted in establishing Toyota models, such as the Camry and Corolla sedans, as the most popular among American car buyers.

Toyota also leads the world in the number of hybrid electric vehicles sold, with Prius the top selling model in this category. The company boasts an eclectic range of vehicles in innumerable categories, including sport utilities, crossovers, pickups, minivans, sedans and sub-compacts. While Toyota’s reputation in the field of automaking is bolstered by its ownership of Hino Motors, Daihatsu and Lexus, the company continues to build on its value to buyers, combining affordability with safety and comfort.
