The Chrysler Group established the Ram brand of trucks in 2009. The trucks were first produced by Dodge. The spin-off came about when Chrysler decided to create a separate division to allow Dodge to focus exclusively on the manufacture of cars.
Truck production by Dodge began in 1917; however the Ram’s head appeared on the masthead of the vehicles only in 1932. Amost a half centry later, in 1931, Lee Iococca thought of marketing Dodge’s truck line by naming it after the mascot. The Ram’s head became an instantly recognizable icon.
Competing for truck space in the automobile market with the likes of GMC, Chevrolet and Ford, Ram has been offering a stable of vans and trucks, ranging from light and medium to heavy. Durable and competitively priced, Ram trucks are renowned for their towing capacity.
