A South Korean car manufacturer, Hyundai Motor Company, established in 1967, began with its first model, the Cortina, eventually to grow into the world’s third biggest automaker, behind only Toyota and Volkswagen.

Hyundai debuted in the United States, in 1986, with the Excel that sold over 126,000 units within a year. Strategic investment in research and development focused on design and quality helped Hyundai rise in rank as a reliable car manufacturer. The Hyundai Elantra, in 2012, won the North American Car of the Year award at the North American International Auto Show, and the company went on to sell over 200,000 units of the model.

Hyundai has bolstered its reputation with sister brands, Genesis as well as Kia, in which it has a 33.8% share. Known for their style and efficiency, Hyundai cars and crossovers come accompanied by a power-train warranty of 10-years or 100,000-miles.
